    My name is Lacey Defreitas and I am excited to be serving at Dublin Elementary School as the Speech Therapist for the 2010-2011 school year. I have been working as an SLP since 2004 and have a wide variety of experience with a range of age groups and subcategories within the field of Speech/Language. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2000 and my M.A. in Speech/Language Pathology in 2004 from Cal State University Los Angeles.
     
    I was previously employed as a private contractor for the past 6 years where I did work in hospital settings, school settings from Preschool to High School,  as well as private therapy within a private speech/language clinic. My experience in the area of speech and language therapy includes expertise in: articulation, expressive/receptive language disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, SDC classrooms, mild/moderate/severe learning disabilities, medically fragile students, PECS training (Picture Exchange Communication System), fluency, TBI (traumatic brain injury), AAC (alternative and augmentative communication), preschool intervention, and a variety of syndromes related to speech/language disorders.
     
    I'm looking forward to being part of the Dublin Elementary team and will do my best in supporting the students, staff and parents in the best possible way that I can. I thoroughly enjoy working with students in helping them reach their potential when it comes to communicating. I believe all students deserve the opportunity to communicate their basic wants and needs as well as be confident in their communication abilities. I will ALWAYS strive to do my best to make this possible.
