    Need help with your college applications? Counselors will be available at lunch in the Career Center to assist you with any questions you may have throughout the month of November. Please bring your lunch and your log-in information to one of these sessions:

    12/2/19 - Applications open for Stanford ValleyCare Clinical Academy in Pleasanton and Livermore (7/20-31).  For high school juniors and seniors, learn clinical skills, experience clinical medicine and build connections.  For more information and to apply -
    12/13/19 - Applications due for Stanford Women In Business Annual Young Women's Leadership Summit, which will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 from 8:30am-3:30pm. This year, the Summit will be focused on providing female-identifying high school girls with a broader sense of the business world. Although we are targeting Juniors and Seniors, the event is open to all grades. Applications open soon -
    Are you a Senior that is looking for a summer job?  The 2020 Decennial Census is hiring.  Their website to apply is and in the county of Alameda Enumerators will be paid $25 per hour, plus paid training and mileage. Students can be 17 when they apply but will need to have turned 18 before they start work.  They are encouraging applicants to apply early/soon because the background check takes several weeks.

    Upcoming Local Volunteer Opportunities

    East Bay Internship applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2019 Session for Congressman Eric Swalwell's office.  Interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and attending District events. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent casework or assist on district-based projects of importance.  If you would like to apply or to learn more about this opportunity, visit Congressman Eric Swalwell's website at 

    Tri-Valley Minor Hockey Association is looking to fill their Board of Directors position of Director of Communications.  They are reaching out to any interested DHS students.  For details - Director of Communications TriValley Minor Hockey Association    

    Joni and Friends International Disability Center, 6400 Village Parkway #102 in Dublin, is looking for high school volunteers to help with office support and preparation for wheel chair drives and summer camps.  If you have interested students, please contact Lynette Murphy at (925) 361-8672 or email at  They are looking for volunteers from 8-5pm and some weekends.    

    11/17/19 - Sun, 10-12pm, Volunteers needed for the 4th Annual Mony Nop Turkey Drop.  This is a drive to feed families in need in the Tri-Valley during the holidays.

    Here is the back story:
    The Tri-Valley Haven has had a turkey drive for years. One year Mony Nop was talking to Christine Dillman with Tri-Valley Haven and found out they ran out of turkeys. He told them that he would do all he could be make sure that didn't happen again, and since then he has continued to help them raise more than enough turkeys and additional donations to help the local Tri-Valley families during the holiday season! 
    If you could help, they would love for our students to participate in getting the word out, by placing door-hangers.They have supervision and coordination they only need manpower. The date for placing out door-hangers is Sunday, November 17th from 10-12 p.m. and they will be hanging door-hangers in two locations in Livermore. There will be two starting points.  They would love to have, at a minimum, 6 student volunteers per location.  If you are able to help please reach out to Amber Averill directly at 209.814.3007 or email at
