My name is Lilia Tsui. I am very excited to be our school's ELD (English Language Development) Specialist. I have been teaching for almost 20 years. I received my B.A. from UCLA and my master's degree and teaching credential from UC Berkeley. Having immigrated to the US and learned English as a child myself, I know first-hand how it feels and what it takes to learn a new language. The majority of my teacher training and experience have also been around serving the unique needs of English language learners. Language-learning is my passion and I want to share that joy with my students. I want them to know that being multi-lingual is a very special gift and something to be proud of! I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to learn alongside my students as we grow together.
A little about myself: I speak Cantonese and Mandarin and have lived abroad in different countries during my childhood. I now live in Dublin with my husband, my son (a Wells student), and my daughter (a Frederiksen student). We love playing board games, eating, playing tennis, and going to the neighborhood park together. I can't wait to learn more about my students' families as well!
As a parent, I know how much trust it takes to leave your child in another's care. I look forward to building that trust between us and being your partner as we work towards a common goal--your child's success! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is via e-mail or you may also leave a voicemail for me if you call during the day. I look forward to a fruitful year with you!
With joy and excitement,
