Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne - Read by Mrs. Conran
For this project, I'll be reading a portion of a chapter each day (chapters are long, so I will often split them into two days). In addition to listening to the story, I would love it if students could make a personal picture book. Here's how:
-Each day before you listen, please ask your folks for a piece of computer printer paper and collect any drawing materials you feel like using that day
-Write your name and the page number of your drawing on the back of the paper
-On the front of the paper draw a picture. I'll try to suggest a topic each day, but if you have another idea, use it.After all, this is your book.
-When we come back to school, put your pictures in number order and bring them to me. I'll put them in a spiral binding and you'll have your own book.
In Which We Are Introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh and Some Bees, and the Stories Begin
Let's begin our picture book with a drawing of your favorite stuffed animal or a drawing of what you imagine Winnie the Pooh looks like
Today maybe a picture of Winnie-the-Pooh floating beneath the balloon - with or without the suspicious bees
In Which Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into a Tight Place
Maybe a picture of Rabbit or of Pooh eating lots and lots of honey
How about a picture of everyone pulling Pooh out of Rabbit's doorway
In Which Pooh and Piglet Go Hunting and Nearly Catch a Woozle
A picture of Piglet today?
How about a picture of either what you think Woozles (or Wizzles) would look like walking around the trees or a picture of Pooh and Piglet walking.
In Which Eeyore Loses a Tail and Pooh Finds One
Perhaps a drawing of Eeyore looking for his tail
Either a picture of Owl or else a drawing of Christopher Robin nailing Eeyore's tail back onto him
In Which Piglet Meets a Heffalump
A picture of what you imagine a Heffalump to look like
What about a drawing of Piglet peering into the Very Deep Pit and seeing Pooh with the jar on his head.
In Which Eeyore Has a Birthday and Gets Two Presents
Maybe a picture either of Eeyore looking gloomily into the stream or of Piglet trying to reach the knocker on Pooh's door, or of Pooh and Piglet going to get their presents
A picture of Pooh eating all of Eeyore's honey or of Owl writing Happy Birthday on the Useful jar or of Piglet's balloon exploding?
Perhaps either a picture of Eeyore putting his balloon into his useful pot, or a picture of Eeyore at his birthday party including his cake with pink sugar
In Which Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest, and Piglet Has a Bath
How about a picture of the sort of animals you believe Kanga and Roo are or a picture of Rabbit if he really did have eighteen pockets
Maybe a picture of Piglet bouncing up and down in Kanga's pouch
Either a picture of Piglet getting a bath; or a picture of Rabbit and Roo, Pooh and Kanga, and Piglet with Christopher Robin spending happy Tuesdays?
In Which Christopher Robin Leads an Expotition to the North Pole
A picture of everyone lined up and ready for the expedition with Christopher Robin?
A picture of poor Alexander Beetle hiding in the ground, or maybe everyone eating their provisions, or of Eeyore eating his thistle after Pooh stands up to check if he was sitting on it.
In Which Piglet Is Entirely Surrounded by Water
Lots of possibilities today, Roo "swimming," Eeyore trying to rescue Roo with his tail in the water, Pooh and Kanga rescuing Roo, or Christopher Robin putting up the newly discovered North Pole sign - or whatever you imagine.
Maybe a drawing of Piglet throwing the bottle with his note into the water
How about a picture of Pooh - either sitting on the branch of the tree with his ten pots of honey or else floating along on his jar The Floating Bear?
Perhaps a picture of Owl talking with Piglet sliding out his window and only hanging on by his toes, or else a drawing of Christopher Robin and Pooh rescuing Piglet in the umbrella?
In Which Christopher Robin Gives Pooh a Party, and We Say Good-bye
Maybe a drawing of Owl talking to either Christopher Robin or Pooh, or Eeyore?
A final ending picture or two if you wish. Maybe one of the party or when Pooh gets his pencil box, and perhaps one of Pooh and Piglet walking home or of Christopher Robin walking back up the stairs dragging Pooh Bear.
THE END
Thank you for letting me share one of my very favorite Read Aloud books. There are more adventures of Pooh Bear and his friends (and some new friends) in The House at Pooh Corner also by A. A. Milne. Any questions can be directed to me at conrankaren@dublinusd.org. All the best. Mrs. C
