I am very excited to have your child in my class! Here are some things to remember to help your child have a wonderful and successful year in Kindergarten.
Arrival and DismissalDaily 8:35-12:26Focus group 8:25-1:26
Breakfast and SnackA healthy breakfast is important to do well in school. Snacks are also important as the children get very hungry during our busy morning. Please send a nutritious snack that you child can eat quickly. Please leave all candy and sweets at home.
ClothingPlease label all jackets, sweaters, lunch boxes and other personal items. Toys should be left at home. Shoes should be safe for active play.
BirthdaysBirthday treats are welcome but definitely not required. Please let me know prior to bringing in a treat. Please send napkins if the treat is messy. Remember we are peanut free so be careful when selecting treats. Also please use discretion when sending invitations to school.
Thursday Folders
Every Thursday your child will bring home a folder containing notices from the teacher and school. You will find newsletters, book orders and everything you wanted to know in this folder. Please read the information in the folder and return the folder on Monday.HomeworkHomework will be assigned weekly. Our goal is to teach the responsibility of completing the work and returning it on time. The packet will come home in the blue Shark folder. It should be completed and returned to school in the folder on Thursdays. If the packet is completed quickly, spend the rest of the homework time reading.
Checks and moneyAny money that is sent to school should be sent in an envelope with your child’s name and K-4 on the front.
Library
Wednesday is Library day. Children may check out a book for one week. Overdue notices will be sent home in the Friday or Homework folder and lost or damaged books will incur a fee. A large ziplock bag is recommended to protect books during transit.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and having a great year in Kindergarten!
