Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, I am Denise Bunger and I am so excited to be a part of Wells Middle School. I will be teaching PE and Leadership .This will be my 13th year teaching, where I have taught a variety of classes including PE, Yoga, Student Government, Sports Medicine, Health, Nutrition, and Global Citizenship.
I have grown up in the Bay Area and attended Moreau High School. I earned an athletic scholarship to the University of San Francisco for basketball, but earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise Science from UC Davis (Go AGS!). I played basketball at UCD and I was a Student Athletic Trainer. I earned my Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology from San Jose State University and my teaching credential from National University.
Our bodies are made to move, providing us with the physical, emotional, mental, and sometimes social outlets that humans need to thrive! My goal as a PE teacher is to positively expose my students to many different types of movement and games so that they will be more likely to remain active throughout their lives. My hope is to challenge my students so that they may realize what they are made of and how great they feel during and after activity!
My favorite activities are : basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, football, kayaking, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, swimming, yoga, kickboxing, walking, running, and weightlifting.
I have two children. My favorite places to be are Lake Tahoe and Hawaii. I hope to one day be fluent in Spanish and able to play the ukelele.
