    12/13/19 - Applications due for Stanford Women In Business Annual Young Women's Leadership Summit, which will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 from 8:30am-3:30pm. This year, the Summit will be focused on providing female-identifying high school girls with a broader sense of the business world.     Hackathon - Superposition IV, the oldest and largest all-female hackathon for high school and college students in the Bay Area. Hackathons are competitive programming events where teams have limited time to solve a real-world problem using technology. Their mission is to help bridge the gender gap in technology by providing young women with a supportive environment in which they can develop their interests in computer science. While attendee applications have not been opened yet, they have released their Campus Ambassador program. Campus Ambassadors help empower females in technology, and promote Superposition in the school and community. If you are interested, you can find more information here:  Superposition School Promo

    Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest - District 5170, Rotary Club of Dublin.  This year's theme:  "Rotary Connects the World."  The contest will be held at Dublin High School the later part of January 2020 (exact date tbd).  If you would like to participate, please sign-up here:  https://forms.gle/biU4BzsTf3WjAMDD6.  The top students from this contest will then proceed to the next level on February 11th, 2020, at noon, at the Dublin Library.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Nobida in the Career Center.  
     
    Are you a Senior that is looking for a summer job?  The 2020 Decennial Census is hiring.  Their website to apply is 2020census.gov/jobs and in the county of Alameda Enumerators will be paid $25 per hour, plus paid training and mileage. Students can be 17 when they apply but will need to have turned 18 before they start work.  They are encouraging applicants to apply early/soon because the background check takes several weeks.

    Upcoming Local Volunteer Opportunities

    12/13/19 - Kolb's Parent Faculty Club is hosting its annual Family Movie Night on Friday, December 13 from 6:00-8:00.  Volunteers are requested to help serve popcorn, glow in the dark bracelets and other light duties.  Although volunteer hours are from 4:30-8:00, volunteers are free to leave earlier.  Volunteers will receive free pizza, water and a treat.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44AFAC2FA0F85-volunteers1

    East Bay Internship applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2019 Session for Congressman Eric Swalwell's office.  Interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and attending District events.     Joni and Friends International Disability Center, 6400 Village Parkway #102 in Dublin, is looking for high school volunteers to help with office support and preparation for wheel chair drives and summer camps.  If you have interested students, please contact Lynette Murphy at (925) 361-8672 or email at lmurphy@joniandfriends.org  They are looking for volunteers from 8-5pm and some weekends.
