    Cisco High School STEM Externship, Summer 2020 for current Jrs and Srs. Applications due on February 29th. Requirements:

    Online application due on Sunday, March 1st, for VISION which is a 4-day, 3-night, all-expense-paid mentorship program that takes place annually in April where high school students from across California are invited to spend a weekend in Berkeley to explore, discuss, and learn about issues that affect Vietnamese and Vietnamese American communities as well as overarching challenges encountered across all cultures. This year, VISION 2020 will take place from Thursday, April 23th, 2020 to Sunday, April 26th, 2020. Application:  http://tinyurl.com/vision2020mentee  

    Housing and food will be provided for all four days, as well as transportation to and from the students' high schools and Berkeley. Students will have the opportunity to stay with college students. Selected students can expect to network and collaborate with other high school students as well as college students who volunteer as mentors from all over California through interactive activities, workshops, and discussions. The students can expect to learn about different topics and issues that they might or might not have been exposed to before. This program will not only educate and inspire our mentees but also allow them the opportunity to forge new, lasting friendships in a fun and safe environment.  In order to be a part of their program, all students who are interested will need to submit an application.  The criteria for applications will be based on the applicant's quality of essays, leadership potential, and enthusiasm for learning. Applicants from ALL backgrounds and ethnicities are encouraged to apply; the application is also open to ALL grade levels in high school, regardless of GPA. 

    Physicians Medical Forum - now accepting applications, 2020 Doctors on Board Pipeline Program - Their primary goal is to help increase the number of African-American and underrepresented physicians, residents & medical students, post bac and pre-med students in Northern California/Bay Area and primarily in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano and Sacramento Counties, while helping to eliminate health disparities and improving the quality of life and medical care services for patients. While their focus base is Northern California, Physicians Medical Forum’s network is nationwide and it programs and initiatives impact medical education, pipeline program and healthcare delivery throughout the country.  Application deadline is March 6th Apply Here

    Teen Job and Career Fair 2020 - Saturday, March 7, noon to 3:00pm.  San Ramon Senior Center, 9300 Alcosta Blvd. San Ramon.  Free Admission, free food for job seekers.  Meet with employers, apply for jobs, mock interviews, resume workshops and learn how to sell yourself and more.  Bring a copy of your resume and dress in professional attire.     Pre-Law Diversity Conference on Saturday, March 14, 9am to 4Pm, the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area's Community Services Committee, UC Hastings Vietnamese American Law Society, and other bar associations and student groups will be hosting their 11th annual pre-law diversity conference, "Pathways to Law", to encourage students to pursue a law degree. Our conference will expose high school students, college students, and recent young graduates, to law school and the legal profession. We will discuss career options available with a law degree from the perspective of persons from Asian and Pacific Islander backgrounds. The conference features distinguished panelists who have used their law degrees in a variety of ways. Panelists will discuss their legal careers in the public and private sectors – including firm attorneys, public interest attorneys, government attorneys, judges, and in-house counsel – as well as career paths outside the “traditional” practice of law.     Physicians Medical Forum - Community Health Ambassadors Internship Program - Applications deadline March 28, 2020.  This is a unique experience for pre-medical students interested in becoming physicians and getting involved in their communities.  African American/Black and Native American Indian students in post- baccalaureate programs, college/university, or high school students who are interested in becoming physicans.  The event will be held at Samuel Merritt University, Health Education Center.  To Apply

    UC Davis Pre-Medical Youth Conference - Saturday, April 11th and will run from approximately 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Since this is an all-day event, lunch will be provided. They are pleased to inform us that they have modified their workshops to be interactive and more hands-on to continue making this event interesting and memorable for students. They will be continuing their suture workshop where students will learn how to perform sutures on bananas. Furthermore, they will have a workshop where students will learn how to take vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate).     Family STEM Nite, Friday, March 20, at John Green Elementary in Dublin (3300 Antone Way, Dublin) 6-8 PM.  They are seeking volunteers to help with STEM stations - LEGO robots, building LEGO tower contest, mini-Escape Rooms, ready made roller coasters and spin art machines for example.  The volunteers need to be there to help the kids understand and keep things organized as everything's built and self explanatory.  They will have pizza and water for the volunteers.   Volunteers need to be there by 5:30 to help set-up and understand the station.  The event ends at 8:00 PM where I'll need help gather everything up and loading so we'd be done by 8:30 PM.  The purpose of this event is to facilitate interactive STEM education at a cost the PTA's could afford for their community by having middle & high school volunteers assist.   This is the Signup Genius Link for the event:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F45A9A72CA02-family  Students can reach the organizer directly at deniselee@snapology.com or by phone/text (925)452-6180.

    Volunteer Opportunity at Kolb Elementary - Kolb Elementary's PFC is hosting its Annual Family Dance on Saturday, March 21st from 5:00 - 7:30.  To help make the event a success, they would love for Dublin High students to help out. Hours would be from 4:00-8:30 or anytime therein - just note your availability.  Duties include: help with set up and clean up; photo booth stations; food table; memory wall and; other related duties.  All volunteers are welcome to have dinner and take pics at the photo booth. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c44afac2fa0f85-kolb

    Joni and Friends International Disability Center, 6400 Village Parkway #102 in Dublin, is looking for high school volunteers to help with office support and preparation for wheel chair drives and summer camps.  If you have interested students, please contact Lynette Murphy at (925) 361-8672 or email at lmurphy@joniandfriends.org  They are looking for volunteers from 8-5pm and some weekends.
