Erika Brown

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I have become a member of the Wells Middle School family!  I am honored to embark upon my role as the Assistant Principal and look forward to assisting Principal Neal and Assistant Principal Britten with all the great ideas and initiatives at Wells.

For the past 20 years, I have lived in the Tri-Valley and have never wanted to leave this special area of California. Prior to residing in California, I attended Hampton University in Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. My educational experiences inspired me to be an educator, so I enrolled at California State University, East Bay and completed the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Program and Master of Education in Curriculum: Mathematics. During my career, I have taught 2nd - 5th grade and 6th grade Core: math and science at Greenleaf K-8 School in Oakland, California, and grade 5 at Frederiksen Elementary School in Dublin. The decision to become an administrator came from a desire to make a direct, positive impact on an entire school community, and not just my classroom of students. Thus, I earned an administrative services credential in 2014, and performed the role as Principal for the 2019 Dublin Unified Elementary Summer School Program.

The middle school years are significant times for our students. The events during these years will have a lasting impression on students’ continued growth and development. Therefore, my goal as Assistant Principal is to provide leadership that will foster a school environment that is safe and respectful, in order for your child to learn as s/he receives the best possible academic instruction. I am confident that OUR school will continue to be a place where OUR students can grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

The students of Wells Middle School are the future, and it takes ALL of us to be actively involved in their education.  I encourage you to stop by and say hello, as my door is always open. I look forward to meeting each of you over the course of the school year.

He also served as a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment coach, managed programs addressing safety, supervision, attendance, sports, and discipline. Matthew has a passion for working to ensure the success of all students and has significant experience working with under served youth. He will draw upon his varied experiences to serve the Wells community.
