Welcome to the 2016-17 school year at Harold William Kolb Elementary! It is my sincere honor to serve our community of learners (students, staff, and parents) as your principal. Our staff members interact as a team each week in order to develop and provide a strong educational foundation for the students based upon the Common Core Standards, student data, and individual needs of the children. It is not only our goal to assist each child to grow to their fullest academic potential, but to additionally instill the importance of integrity and service to the community.
I have lived most of my life in the Bay Area and enjoyed the opportunity to raise my own children (ages 24 and 21; attending college) in Martinez. On the weekends I enjoy spending quality time with family, going on hikes, taking a ride on my mountain bike, going for a walk with the dog, or reading while enjoying a cup of tea on a quiet morning. Most of my educational career has been spent serving the community of Antioch as a teacher (grades Kindergarten through Fourth), Vice Principal (Elementary and Middle school), and Principal (Elementary). I have served as the Principal at Kolb Elementary for one school year and am truly grateful each day to be a member of this community!
For many years I have had a card placed near my desk with the following quote, “I hope it will be said we taught them to stand tall & proud, even in the face of history & the future was made new & whole for us all, one child at a time.” I continually strive to empower children to grow academically, socially, and emotionally so that each child can have the strength, confidence, and knowledge to pursue any personal goal.
Together we will ensure that our students will…. Soar in mind, body, and spirit!
