• DUSD CLOSES SCHOOLS EFFECTIVE 3/16 - 4/10/2020

As this is an unusual situation, information could change rapidly. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.

On Friday, March 13, 2020, Superintendent Marken presented to the Board of Trustees that all DUSD schools suspend classes beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020 through at least Friday, April 10, 2020. We'd like to thank the Board for their quick unanimous advisory vote to suspend classes and allow our staff to do the necessary work to implement these directives and complete next steps for your students and families.

Because we are in uncharted territory, this process will likely include some speedbumps and we ask for your patience as we navigate this journey together. We understand that nothing can replace the interaction between students and instructional staff in the classroom.

We are confident that our decision to dismiss schools will support our school community. We know you have a lot of questions and we are working diligently to put all the pieces together so that we can communicate with you about what to expect going forward.

The health and well-being of our staff and students is the single most important thing that we, as a District, are entrusted to protect, and we will continue to take that duty seriously for the duration of this unprecedented and unique health event.

    Access to Technology
To better ensure equity of access, we have created a program allowing students to check out Chromebooks and internet hotspots if needed. If your student has a computer available, we ask that you not reserve a Chromebook in order to ensure availability for students who require this support. Families who qualify for the National School Lunch Program ("Free and Reduced") are eligible to check out a mobile Internet hotspot if they do not have Internet available at home. Chromebooks are limited to one per student per year. Hotspots are limited to one per family per year. Please understand, we have a limited number of Chromebooks.

    Meal Service
Students have access to a "Grab and Go" bagged combination breakfast/lunch for the duration of the suspension period, with the exception of Spring BreakThese meals are currently available at two DUSD locations from 10:00AM-12:00PM. While meals will be available, seating will not be offered at either site. You can access the meal order menu form here to select food choices. Students must be present to receive meals.
