Mrs. Rutherford & Mrs. Lombard

We are thrilled to be your child’s second grade teachers this year! We have spent many days this summer preparing for a great year.  We know how much potential each child has. We would like to make it our goal to unlock each child’s potential and let your child soar! We look forward to getting to know your child as well as your family.  Our goal can easily be attained if we work together as a team.   If you have questions or if you have something you want to share in the morning, we ask you to email us or send a note with your child to drop off in our designated classroom mailbox. If it is urgent, we will get back to you that day. If it can wait, we will get back to you within 48 hours.
All 2nd grade teachers are unavailable after school on Mondays for grade level meetings and collaboration Wednesdays. We are always available via email (MUST EMAIL BOTH TEACHERS)

All About Mrs. Rutherford:
Hello! I am so excited to be working at Kolb Elementary (4 years in counting) with you and your child! Previously I worked in Oakland at the Aspire Public Schools (ACA) teaching 1st and 2nd Grade (2 years). I love to teach, it is my passion! I believe that children are our future. I believe every child is unique and has to potential to bring something special into our world (and classroom). I always thrive to give children a comfortable, safe, and caring environment to flourish and grow in. I will assist them however I can in discovering who they are as an individual and nurture their ideas.I will teach my students that education is power and that if they feed their brain with knowledge they will have strength to conquer. I want them to know that their ideas and opinions matter. I will nourish their thoughts and dreams so they will have the tools necessary to make an impact in our society. I believe every child has the right to an equal education! Teaching provides an opportunity for continuous learning and growth for myself. One of my hopes as a teacher is to instill a love of learning in my students as I share my own passion of learning with them! If I am not teaching you will find me spending time with my family which includes A LOT of people! Closest to me is my husband, Adam. We are soon expecting our first child in October! In addition, I enjoy to read, cook, shop, and travel! Go A's and 49'rs!

Please feel to reach out to me and Mrs. Lombard at anytime and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
