Dear FRED Families,
My name is Erika Brown and I will be your scholar’s 5th grade teacher this year! First, I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our classroom. The 2018 - 2019 academic year will be my fourth year teaching at Dublin Unified School District and my sixteenth year in the classroom! My previous experience includes teaching grades 2, 3, 5, and middle school grade 6 math/science at Oakland Unified School District. Additionally, I graduated with a degree in Biology from Hampton University which is located in Virginia and completed both my California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Education at California State University, East Bay.
Teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. Thus, one of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and each child learns in a different way. Thus, I differentiate instruction to help my students reach their highest academic potential. I am looking forward to working with you and I am excited to have your child succeed in my class.
Finally, I thank you in advance for your cooperation and want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with all of my students’ families. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns during the school year. Please be sure to type DPRIDE in the subject line to make sure that I receive your email.
Ms. Erika Brown
