Dublin Unified School District Announces Dr. Matthew Campbell as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and Sheri Sweeney as Director of Secondary Education

Experienced Educators Fill Two Key Roles in District Office

Dublin, CA – January 30, 2019 – The Dublin Unified School District (DUSD) and the Board of Trustees are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Matthew Campbell as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and Sheri Sweeney as Director of Secondary Education. Both appointments were confirmed during the January 22 regular Board meeting.

Dr. Campbell comes to the District from the Fremont Unified School District, where he currently serves as the Director of Student Support Services. Dr. Campbell taught economics, world history and civics at Amador High School, was the Vice Principal at Hart Middle School and Foothill High School, in Pleasanton, the Principal at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, and started his teaching career at Dublin High. He also served on the Pleasanton City Council from 2000-2004, resulting in a range of knowledge, insight, and experience that will assist the district in navigating some of its most complex challenges.

As the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Service, Dr. Campbell will be primarily responsible for assisting the Superintendent by planning, organizing, staffing, directing, facilitating, and evaluating a program of comprehensive educational support services.

Dr. Campbell has a Bachelor's of Art in History from California Polytechnic State University, a Masters of Science in Environmental Education from Lesley College, and a Doctorate of Education from Saint Mary's College.

Ms. Sheri Sweeney brings over 15 years of secondary education experience to the role of Director of Secondary Education, the last five serving as the principal of Fallon Middle School. She has significant practice and training as a school administrator, instructional coach, and teacher. These skills are complemented by a background in law and non-profit program management.

In her role as Director of Secondary Education, Ms. Sweeney will formulate and implement a vision of effective instruction for grades 6-12 aimed at developing and sustaining the highest possible level of progressive educational programs and services. She will be a supervisor and mentor for secondary principals and other administrators, providing the leadership that enables them to accomplish Board and District goals.

Ms. Sweeney has a Bachelor's of Art in Political Science from the University of Tulsa, a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School and a Masters of Art in Educational Leadership from Brandman University.
