Dublin Unified School District Fills Two Leadership Positions

Lorianne Ventura to Lead Cottonwood Creek, Risha Krishna to Head Fallon Middle School

Dublin, CA – April 15, 2019 – During the Dublin Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting on April 9, the Board approved the selection of two open principal positions in Dublin. Dr. Lorianne Ventura will remove the term “interim” from her title and become the permanent Principal at Cottonwood Creek K-8. Risha Krishna will step into the role of Principal at Fallon Middle School, following former Principal Sheri Sweeney’s move to the position of Director of Secondary Education.

Dr. Lori Ventura to Lead Cottonwood Creek

Dr. Ventura has been the Principal at Green Elementary since 2016. During her tenure at Green, her students have regularly outperformed the state and county in terms of English language literacy and mathematics. Green was also honored as a California Distinguished School in 2018. She has the broad experience needed to be a successful leader, having worked as a principal, assistant principal, manager of secondary curriculum and instruction, director of assessment, planning and accreditation, and a classroom teacher.

Dr. Ventura works diligently to engage students, staff, PFCs, families, and administration in a collaborative process to improve the educational and professional experience at her schools. She is also committed to achieving improved instructional and school-wide practices by using data to make informed decisions.

When Cottonwood Creek had a vacancy at the principal level, Dr. Ventura stepped in to help and has done a fantastic job. We are excited to keep her in Dublin and officially hand her the leadership role at Cottonwood Creek.

The district will post the Green Elementary principal position immediately, initiating the search process in order to find a  replacement.

Risha Krishna to Lead Fallon Middle School

Risha Krishna has spent two decades in public education, most recently serving as Vice Principal at Joe Michell K-8 International Baccalaureate school in Livermore, where among other responsibilities, she played a primary role in implementing a social-emotional health curriculum. Prior to her role in Livermore, Ms. Krishna spent 18 years in the Fremont Unified School District as a teacher of World History and Ethnic Studies.

She has a passion for developing curriculum and instruction through programs. Ms. Krishna created a University of California college preparatory elective called Ethnic Studies. This award-winning, multicultural course, which focuses on developing students to become culturally sensitive citizens, has been adopted by many school districts in California. She also consulted with the Los Angeles Unified School District, supporting their development of an Ethnic Studies program.

Ms. Krishna served a four-year term as Commissioner of the Instructional Quality Commission, which is an advisory board to the State Board of Education. During this time, she developed policies and instructional curriculum that addresses the needs of our diverse population in California.

She is a firm believer in creating learning opportunities for students that help them interact with their school community and beyond. She has built relationships with students, parents, and staff by cultivating positive communication and support.

We are thrilled to welcome Risha Krishna to Dublin as Fallon Middle School’s new principal.
