Fallon’s power has been restored, and the school will be open tomorrow. PG&E was able to confirm in advance that there would be an outage for today, so we were able to plan accordingly. For tomorrow (10/29), PG&E has not been able to confirm an outage. While there is a possibility that power will be out at the site tomorrow, we need to confirm with staff our plans based on the information available to us now. As a result, school will be open tomorrow.
We fully understand your frustration, because we feel the same way. Still, in the grand scheme of things, and taking into account the hardships others in this state are facing, our situation is only a minor inconvenience.
We’d like to take a moment to recognize the incredible staff members at Fallon Middle School for their flexibility, positive attitude, and hard work. They took an unfortunate situation today and turned it into a positive experience. A number of Fallon staff deployed to schools around the district, lessening the workload at some sites and allowing staff to catch up on their work. Our teachers used the experience as an unplanned collaboration day, working in grade-level or subject-matter groups to strategize on ways to improve student outcomes.
Thank you to the Fallon staff for making the best of an unfortunate situation. Your response is a show of commitment and character that we can all be proud of.
We will continue to keep you updated as the situation around our community evolves. In the meantime, all schools are in session tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
