Help Name Dublin’s Next Comprehensive High School
December 19, 2019
Dear Dublin Community,
The Dublin Unified School District has formed a Naming Committee to lead the process of selecting a name for the future comprehensive high school. This committee is comprised of students recommended by school site leadership, staff recommended by the DTA and CSEA leadership, parents recommended by site PFC, ASB, SSC, Boosters, etc. leadership, and a school site administrator recommended by District leadership. Members of the Naming Committee come from all corners of Dublin.
As part of the naming process, the Committee is encouraging the Dublin community (students, staff, parents, residents) to participate by suggesting potential names for the school. Like Dublin High, Dublin's second comprehensive high school will be a significant landmark in the city. Your contributions could have an impact on Dublin and its students for generations to come.
To suggest a name, please visit our survey and fill out the form by January 17, 2020.
Per Board Policy (BP) 7310, the Board of Education shall name or rename schools or individual buildings:
- In recognition of individuals, living or deceased, who have made outstanding contributions to the city, community, state, or nation, or who have worldwide significance
- To depict areas of curricular concentration or reflect special concepts or approaches to education
- In recognition of the geographic area in which the school or building is located
When suggesting a name, please keep these criteria in mind. Suggestions that do not meet these criteria will not be considered.
Following the submission deadline, the Naming Committee will review all suggestions, ultimately providing a list of three proposed names with information supporting the suggested names to the Superintendent, who will then forward to the Board. The Board will hold at least two public hearings to allow for public comments before deciding on a name.
We look forward to seeing your suggestions!
