Latest Information re: Coronavirus from ACOE and ACPHD

January 28, 2020 @4:00PM

Dear DUSD Families,

Last week, we shared a message with you regarding cold and flu season tips, along with information on the novel Coronavirus. Yesterday, the Alameda County Office of Education and the Alameda County Public Health Department issued a letter to our community with the latest information. You can view it here.

Here are a few key takeaways from their letter:

  1. As of January 27, 2020, there are no confirmed cases in Northern California.

  2. They are closely monitoring developments and the Alameda County Public Health Department will keep their website (www.acphd.org) updated with the latest local information, along with resources such as Coronavirus FAQs, Cases in the US, Situation Summary, and more.

  3. It is important that we work together to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including common illnesses such as the cold and flu. They encourage everyone to practice common-sense precautions such as staying home if you are sick, promoting hand hygiene, and using proper cough etiquette. See prevention tips here from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Most importantly, if your child has symptoms of the flu or Coronavirus (which are similar), please do not send them to school and risk exposing others.

Thank you for working with us to keep our schools healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Dave Marken Ed. D.
