C-3 News Happy New Year!

Dear C-3 families,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a nice break. I am looking forward to seeing all of the students tomorrow morning. We have a lot of fun and exciting plans to start off our 2020 year.
Curriculum:
Math - Fractions (Identifying/naming, comparing, ordering on a number line, and finding equivalent fractions)
Writing - Nonfiction/Informational Writing. Students will be researching and writing about a famous: artist, author, or inventor.
Reading - Advancements in Technology. We will be learning about innovations over time and how they affect our lives. This week, we will be studying Alexander Graham Bell.
Vocabulary - patent, sound waves, telegraph, established, revolutionary, distant
Spelling - (long vowel sounds) arrive, broke, celebrated, huge, June, telephone, whole
Grammar - Pronoun-antecedent agreement and punctuating dialogue
Poetry - "Celebrating Me". Students will memorize and recite a poem in front of the class. We will be working on using a loud, clear voice, eye-contact, and rhythm. Students will be graded on: voice/rhythm, memorization, posture/body movement, and eye-contact.
Reminder - Tomorrow (Tuesday) is our library day. Please make sure your child has his/her library books to return.
